Receive a safety briefing and get outfitted in a beekeeper’s suit, ensuring you’re fully prepared to interact with the bees safely.

Part 1 – Hive Exploration and Bee Knowledge: Accompanied by your experienced beekeeper, approach the beehives and witness the bustling activity of the bees. Learn about the vital roles of worker bees, the queen, and the drones, and discover the intriguing social structure within the hive. Observe the bees as they diligently collect nectar and pollen, working together in harmony to create their precious honey.

Part 2 – Hands-On Beekeeping Experience: Now it’s time for the highlight of your day – a hands-on beekeeping experience! Under the guidance of the beekeeper, you’ll have the opportunity to inspect the hives, handle the frames, and observe the bees up close. Experience the thrill of working alongside these incredible creatures and gain insight into the delicate art of beekeeping.

Mid-Morning – Honey Tasting: After your exhilarating experience with the bees, take a moment to indulge in a honey tasting session. Sample a variety of delicious honey harvested right from the farm. Each type of honey comes from different floral sources, imparting unique flavours and characteristics. Savour the sweetness and complexity of the honey while learning about the diverse flora that contributes to its exquisite taste.

Conclusion – Q&A and Farewell: Conclude your half-day beekeeping experience with a Q&A session, where you can ask any lingering questions about bees, beekeeping, or the honey production process. There is a small café on site, where you can purchase snacks, and drinks.

This unique experience, is a fun packed full or half day, full of truly fascinating stuff!

With a mixture of educational talks and hands on sessions, you’ll learn everything there is to know about starting out as a beekeeper.

The day is split down into several intervals starting with the bee basics, learning how colonies work, and communicate and their life cycle, followed by a look into the life of a beekeeper.

You’ll be shown what looking after the bees entails, what types of hives there are, how to harvest honey and how honey is made. And not to forget, learn about the importance of
pollination and just how precious bees are to our planet.
